During the bloody war in Croatia, in Belgrade, the capital of Yugoslavia, a woman from the Croatian city of Dubrovnik, her husband a Serb from Belgrade, and their small son try to live in peace. However, the neighborhood is hostile towards them, not only because their "intermarriage", but also because of their diversities from these surroundings (he is a cellist, and she a flute player). This "crash of worlds" ends by the unfortunate death of their son, which results in the collapse of the family.
